I care about science, art, queers, music, and doing the right thing. Now and then, I make things.

I have mixed feelings about this, largely because the real thing makes me grumpy.  They’re often broken with nails sticking out in alarming places.  They also often come loaded with large quantities of as-yet-empty cardboard boxes, which I know will end up not at a municipal recycling facility, but in the trash.
However!
They’re also eminently useful.  They make it possible to store things like cardboard up off the ground, and then move it around easily.  And these seem to be pint-sized, prettier versions of the regular thing, useful for keeping your laptop off your lap (or bed).
And I kind of want one?

I have spent the last week weeding, digging and otherwise getting muddy. The radishes and arugula I planted on Friday are up after five days- as close as it gets to instant gratification in gardening. It’s wonderful!

I want you to be a fucking beacon of white-hot rage burning so bright no one around you can miss it. Whatever it takes to stoke the fire. I want us to be so loud and so angry and so visible and so terrifying that we cannot be mistaken for anything other than the future, a future that looks like us. In all our kinds of bodies, in all our kinds of love. Waiting for the time when none of us are angry anymore because the only thing left is the world we want to live in. When the hardest thing any of us will know is teaching ourselves how to live without anger altogether.

Until then: whatever it takes and fucking fight.

I just bought a walkman radio, and I’m thirteen again, lying awake in bed on a school night with my headphones on, listening to music that floats into my room, just for me. Every nudge of the dial is meaningful, and if the weather is right and I set the radio on my stomach and hold very still, I can hear New Jersey.

I’m not interested in language anymore,” I said, “unless it’s doing the work of revolution” … “It can still be beautiful,” Bojan said, and I said, “I want it to always be beautiful.” And that’s it, that’s what I want: I want beauty that remakes the world… . You’ll know me in the street by the rage I live with, by the rage I will not hide.
